刘东方教授在来到南开大学之前,为国内知名上市公司天津市创业环保集团公司副总工程师、研发中心主任、首席工程师,在德国、英国、瑞典等多个国家从事过环境工程领域研究、设计及工程管理经验,具有丰富水处理和污水处理经验。
2007年至今,加入南开大学以来,承担国家科技重大专项、国家住建部、天津市重大科技专项、天津市水务局、天津农委等政府部门,及污水处理及给水工程横向课题及咨询各类项目50余项,承担项目总经费5000余万元。
